NBI, in partnership with the Asia Pacific Alliance for Disaster Management (A-PAD), hosted a two-day emergency preparedness and response planning workshop in Sinamangal, Kathmandu. The event brought together 19 participants from municipal governments, security agencies, civil society, and the private sector to strengthen local-level disaster risk reduction and management (DRRM).

Highlights
Day 1 covered DRRM fundamentals, Nepal's legal framework (Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Act 2074, National Strategic Plan 2018–2030), the cluster approach to emergency response, and the 9 Core Humanitarian Standards.
Day 2 focused on SPHERE standards, the private sector's role in DRRM under national law, and hands-on stakeholder identification and resource mapping across human, social, financial, and natural resources.
Closing Message
NBI President Kush Kumar Joshi emphasized that with over 4 million employees in the private sector, instilling a preparedness culture can cascade knowledge to families and communities. He called for shifting focus from compliance-driven approaches to proactive risk reduction, replicating best practices from countries like Japan.
